Yu-Gi-Oh-novation! Deck lists

Winner - ! BlackFlame !

Imgur link: http://i.imgur.com/uTtuxPk.png

! BlackFlame ! took the monster heavy approach with his deck, which most people failed to see the potential of. By combining reactive-aggressive cards like Hands and Ryko, he made it possible to go "one for one" with his opponents but still come out victorious through Battle Damage and not having too many bad draws in top decking wars. The Vylon tuner tactic was particularly impressive and was undoubtedly the highlight of the deck, as he could bring out Yazi and steal certain games he had no right winning.

Runner-up - Down in Flames

Imgur link: http://i.imgur.com/avbyGWX.png

Unlike many others, Down in Flames chose to run a deck that could not bring out Yazi and was more centered around controlling the play through powerful targeting effects. The decision to run the Monarchs proved to be a great one as the Hands were running rampant throughout the tournament. The 2400 ATK made them difficult to deal with and the upside of the banishing ability of Caius was almost too great in this format.

Top 4 - crimson_flare

Imgur link: http://i.imgur.com/ceWK3Ld.png

Crimson took a very similar approach to Down in Flames however opted to go for a more aggressive build by also adding Raiza into the Monarch mix. This allowed him to add Soul Exchange and aggressively remove sticky reactive monsters on the board without actually triggering their effects. However he will be left wondering as to why he didn't add slightly more defensive cards that could prevent the opponent from making plays on their turn, which ultimately cost him the place in the final the moment the card of the tournament, Yazi, hit the board.

Top 4 - Lever10

Imgur link: http://i.imgur.com/tlZXM6y.png

Unfortunately, Watapon was too overpowered for this tourney and was thus banned. Lever10 didn't miss it much though, as cards from the Blackwing archetype helped him on to a Top 4 finish. The defensive utility of Winged Beasts also played a part, as Icarus Attack proved to be a very powerful card, even going 2 for 3 in some instances. The addition of light attribute monsters also allowed him to run Chaos Sorcerer and Black Luster Soldier, cards that were perhaps slept upon in this format.

How to make a deck for this tournament
  • You'll be using the November 2015 TCG F/L List. In addition, these cards will be changed to what they were in the July 2003 list [HERE]. You can find the set [HERE]
  • You're only allowed you to use monsters from that set in your Main/Side Deck. That means you can only use those monsters in those spots. You can't use monsters like Photon Thrasher, Tour Guide, Thunder King Rai-Oh, etc. As for Spells, Traps, and Extra deck monsters you can use the current TCG card pool for those as well as in the set itself. Yes you may use Norden, Instant Fusion, Raigeki, Mirror Force, XYZs, etc. I made a sample deck for this as you can probably make one better [HERE]. It's just to give you an idea on how building the deck works.

DNYCS Worlds London Round 4 Feature Match: Auke1993 vs TRA2700

$
0
0
102502.jpg VS 102500.jpg

It's the final Round of Swiss here at DNYCS Worlds London. Auke1993 has a score of 1-2 after 3 Rounds. His only win came in Round 3, which was a bye. After having lose all 4 Rounds of Swiss during last year's DNYCS Worlds, Auke is desperately looking for his first 'regular' victory.
Standing in his way is
TRA2700. TRA has a score of 2-1 after 3 Rounds, and needs to win to have a chance of reaching the Top 4.
Interestingly, both duelists are using Kozmo, a deck that many believe to be the strongest deck this format. Which of these two Kozmo decks will triumph? Let's find out!

Auke1993 uses his regular scissors, wins Rock-Paper-Scissors, and chooses to go 2nd.

Game 1

TRA2700 starts off the duel with an Upstart Goblin, allowing them to draw 1 card, while giving Auke 1000 free Life Points. (Auke1993 8000-->9000) TRA activates Reasoning. Auke believes his opponent is using Infernoid, as Reasoning is a commonly seen card in Infernoid decks. Recalling that Infernoid Decatron is a Level 1 monster, Auke declares Level 1. TRA excavates Galaxy Cyclone, Vanity's Emptiness, Emergency Teleport and Kozmo Strawman. With Strawman being a Level 2, it is Special Summoned to TRA's field. TRA follows up with 1 Set card, to then end their turn.

Auke's first move sees him activating the Field Spell Kozmotown. Auke Sets 1 monster along with 1 Spell/Trap card. They end their turn.

TRA Normal Summons Kozmoll Wickedwitch. Wickedwitch attacks and destroys Auke's Set monster, which is revealed to be Kozmo Strawman. TRA banishes Kozmo Strawman to Summon a new Kozmo. To Auke's surprise, it's not a spaceship. It's Kozmo Farmgirl! Farmgirl attacks directly. (Auke1993 9000-->7500) Kozmo Farmgirl's effect is activated, adding Kozmo Sliprider to TRA's hand. (TRA2700 8000-->7500) Farmgirl's other effect is activated. Auke stops it with Solemn Warning. (Auke1993 7500-->5500)

Knowing Wickedwitch can still Summon Sliprider, Auke feels they are in a bad position. But things are about to get even worse for him...

TRA is not done Summoning cards yet! They activate Emergency Teleport from their hand, summoning a 2nd Kozmo Farmgirl! This new Farmgirl also attacks directly, dealing another 1500 points of damage. (Auke1993 5500-->4000) Farmgirl's effect adds Kozmo Dark Destroyer to TRA's hand. (TRA2700 7500-->7000) Farmgirl's other effect Summons Dark Destroyer. Surprisingly, it activates its effect... on itself! By destroying itself, TRA allowed themselves to Summon a Kozmo Goodwitch from the deck, which immediately attacks directly. (Auke1993 4000-->2200) Goodwitch's effect Summons the expected Sliprider, which attacks Auke directly for the final time during this game. (Auke1993 2200-->0)

And just like that, TRA2700 takes the first game with a dominant OTK. They are well on their way to win this match, and maybe even to reaching the Top Cut. (Auke1993 0 1 TRA 2700)

Both players side, and resume the game. Auke chooses to go 1st.

Game 2

Auke starts the 2nd game by Normal Summoning Kozmoll Wickedwitch, followed by an activation of Kozmotown. He Sets 1 Spell/Trap card, and ands their turn.

TRA starts off their game 2 with a Galaxy Cyclone, targeting Auke's Set card. Auke exclaims: "MST NEGATES" He activates his Set Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Galaxy Cyclone.

Unfortunately for Auke, MST does not negate. Mystical Space Typhoon is still destroyed.

TRA Normal Summons Kozmo Farmgirl. After two cards are Set, TRA ends their turn.

Auke activates Emergency Teleport, Special Summoning Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from his deck. In response to this Summon TRA banishes their Farmgirl. Auke chains his Maxx "C". Farmgirl's effect Summons Kozmo Dark Destroyer, which destroys Ghost Ogre with its effect. Not being able to perform his planned Synchro Summon, Auke activates the 2nd effect of Kozmotown. This shuffles Kozmo Goodwitch back into Auke's deck, allowing him to draw 1 new card.

At this moment, Auke does not know what to do. He takes a while to go over his options, but cannot come up with anything good. Does this mean the end for him? Is there no way for him to beat TRA? If he wants to get that first DNYCS Worlds victory, he'd better make a good move, and quick!

Auke switches Kozmoll Wickedwitch into DEF position, and ends their turn.

TRA activates their own copy of Kozmotown, adding Farmgirl back to their hand. (TRA2700 8000-->7700) Kozmotown's 2nd effect is activated, shuffling Farmgirl back to the deck alongside Kozmo Forerunner, allowing TRA to draw 2 new cards. Dark Destroyer attacks Auke's Wickedwitch. Auke activates Wickedwitch's effect, paying 1000 Life Points to allow Wickedwitch to survive the battle. (Auke1993 8000-->7000) TRA ends their turn.

Auke activates the 2nd effect of Kozmotown once again, shuffling back Dark Destroyer and Farmgirl. Auke activates Wickedwitch's effect, Special Summoning a Dark Destroyer. TRA responds with Time-Space Trap Hole. (TRA2700 7700-->6700) Auke does not have any other moves, so he ends his turn.

TRA activates Kozmotown's 2nd effect, shuffling Kozmo DOG Fighter into their deck. They then activate the effect of the Galaxy Cyclone sitting in their Graveyard. By banishing it, they take out their own Kozmotown! Kozmotown's effect activates, adding Kozmo Farmgirl to TRA's hand, which is immediately Normal Summoned. Dark Destroyer attacks directly. (Auke1993 7000-->4000) Farmgirl attacks directly, but Auke response by activating the effect of Juragedo, Summoning it to the field, and gaining 1000 Life Points. (Auke1993 4000-->5000) Farmgirl activates its effect, Summoning a 2nd Dark Destroyer from the hand. Its effect is activated, destroying the 1st Dark Destroyer, which in turn Summons Kozmoll Wickedwitch with its effect.

For a while now, Auke's been holding an Artifact Lancea in their hand. He had reasons to not use it before, but could've used it in response to Dark Destroyer's effect here to prevent a Summon. Whether it was fatigue, or the fact he was too focused on the narration of the duel, that is not known.

The new Dark Destroyer attacks Juragedo. (Auke1993 5000-->3700) Wickedwitch follows up with a direct attack. (Auke1993 3700-->1800) Wickedwitch's effect is activated.

Is this it? Is the match over?

Wickedwitch's effect Summons Kozmo Sliprider. Sliprider attacks directly. (Auke1993 1800-->0)

That's it! With another dominant game, it's TRA2700 who takes home the victory! (Auke1993 0 - 2 TRA2700)

It's TRA2700 who takes their Kozmo deck to a 2-0 victory, making them end Swiss with a 3-1 score. It's now up to Tiebreakers to see whether or not they will reach the Top 4. It all depends on the outcomes of other matches that have yet to be played. Once all results of Round 4 are in, a spoiler will be placed below this message revealing whether TRA made it to the Top 4 or not.

If you'd like to see a video of this match, then we have it for you! Our good friend Auke1993 (me, hihi) recorded this match, and uploaded it to Youtube! Subscribe to his channel to see daily Yu-Gi-Oh videos, including more coverage from all DNYCS Tournaments!

It's now time for the Top 4! Good luck to everyone who made it! Have fun!

DNYCS Tokyo

5lAx3pU.png

We start the season on the other side of the world as our first stop will be in Tokyo, Japan! With about a few decks competing in this tournament which will take about a month or less, there will be some stiff competition. If you'd like to see a preview of which decks you'll encounter you can check out my article [HERE].

Rules & Guidelines

  • This tournament will be Swiss, 6 or less Rounds then will cut off with the Top 4/8. Each Round will last 3 days [No extensions].
  • This tournament will be played under the November 2015 TCG F/L List + ADJUSTED LIST [HERE]
  • Wing Raiders set is LEGAL for this event. For information in what's in the pack click [HERE].
  • Inactivity will not be tolerated in this tournament. If you need an extension, PM 7hhzz7 and Cosmos. in 1 message. Otherwise, you will be disqualified after going inactive for 2 rounds of Swiss or 1 round in single-elimination. Also, if you need to forfeit a round's match or drop out of the tournament because you cannot be active, inform us as soon as possible.
  • Rules are subjected to change at any time and can be overruled by @7hhzz7. You can view our current rules [HERE].
  • Make sure you save your deck list for this event on your DN Account as "DNYCS Tokyo Deck" so this way you won't make any changes, forget what it was, etc.
  • DNYCS Finals will be Best of 5 which means you need to win 3 Games from the 5.
  • Top Deck Lists will be published.
  • This Tournament will officially begin February 18th, 2016. Good luck to all participants and remember to check this sub-forum on this date for the bracket thread!

Signing Up

  • By signing up for this tournament, you agree to fully read and understand DNF Tournament Rules, DNYCS Rules, How to contact your opponent + Taking Screens [HERE] and fully committing yourself to this tournament by being active. You must have an activated DNF account in order to participate.
  • To sign up for this tournament, follow this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1MSmw8eJ9k552QJF1TwUPLb1x5LBAkJWZ-ZHEYOIda7Q/viewform

If you choose to do that, please message both @7hhzz7 and @Cosmos. in a DNF PM instead of redoing the Google Form. You must use the same Deck List for the rest of the tournament, if there is even a 1 card change you will be forced to redo that match. Failure to redoing it will result in a Draw. If your Deck List is deemed illegal with OCG cards we will PM you here on DNF to make the appropriate changes.
